This review is from: Manchester Tank & Equip 100Lb Propane Tank 1428.2 Tank Lp (Misc.)
New inlet type valve works great on this tank. Very high quality and solidly built and meets current local requirements of color of tank, etc. Tractor supply locally carries similar but different manufacturer, and is less quality in thickness of tank and quality of valve and fittings and is 25-50$ less in cost....

This is a 12' hose with a built in regulator that will connect the Mr. Heater Big Buddy to a twenty pound propane tank. The regulator on this hose allows the hose to bypass the regulator in the Big Buddy by connecting to the quick-disconnect fitting on the Big Buddy instead of the screw-in connection. This hose gives you 1/2 PSI through the hose at any given time instead of 100 PSI that other hoses provide. This provides much safer conditions should a leak in your hose occur.
Propane hose assembly for use with Mr. Heater Big Buddy indoor/outdoor heater
POL connection connects directly to twenty pound propane tank
Regulator reduces high pressure of 1.3 gallon tanks and larger to low pressure
Hand wheel for tightening; female connector fits any standard 3/8-inch male SAE fitting
12-feet long; 1-year warranty

Mr. Heater Hose with Regulator and Quick Disconnect for Big Buddy Heater #F271803 Reviews
This review is from: Mr. Heater Hose with Regulator and Quick Disconnect for Big Buddy Heater #F271803 (Kitchen)
I was confused about the hose options so I contacted Mr. Heater to get the scoop. I have not actually used the hose myself (so the 4 star was arbitrary...seems like this is the way to go, tho'), but I wanted to share what the company said. (Please note that the product manuals for the Mr Buddy heaters are available on their website at the specific product link). My initial question and the company response follow, including the contact info for the company rep that sent me the information:
Initial question to Mr. Heater: amazon.com advertizes that the plasticizer-free green hose(f273704) can be used with both the portable buddy and big buddy, but I don't see it listed in the big buddy manual. Is it compatible with both? Also, is the quick disconnect hose (F271803) compatible with both the big buddy and the portable buddy? Does this hose require use of a fuelfilter? If no, why not? Is it made of materials that will not degrade like the f273704 hose... Read more

This hose costs more than the one without the regulator. However, it has several advantages that have been confirmed by Mr. Heater (I called them):
1) The regulator keeps the pressure coming from the tank into the hose at a very low level, which is safer.
2) You do NOT need to purchase a fuel filter with this hose. The regulator prevents oils from leaving the propane tank and entering your heater where it could do damage. Although you pay more for this hose up front, you don't have to buy fuel filters periodically, which are required with the other hose that doesn't have the regulator.

This review is from: Mr. Heater Hose with Regulator and Quick Disconnect for Big Buddy Heater #F271803 (Kitchen)
I chose this quick disconnect hose instead of the hose that connects to the heater's regulator because this hose is equipped with a regulator at the bulk tank end thus reducing the hose pressure to a much safer 1/2 lb. psi. This hose also has a built in filter in the regulator eliminating the purchase of an additional filter.
Preventing 5 stars is the cramped quick connection in the Mr. Heater which points straight down. It would be nice if the quick disconnect also had a swivel outward like the heater's two regulators.
Also you must hold the pilot button for about 90 seconds to allow the gas to travel the length of the 12' hose to reach the heater.
Otherwise I'm pleased wih the product because it allows connection to a large supply of propane which you will need when operating Mr. Heater on high. Also the cost of propane when purchased in 20 lbs. is much cheaper than the 1 lb bottles.

This is what I needed and seems to be good quality. Minus one star because the price is so high.
It was hard to tell from the description (here at Amazon and other web sites) if the connectors on this hose were correct for my needs and how it attaches. I ordered it anyway and luckily it is what I needed to connect a propane tank (the type that is normally used for an outdoor grill) to my 25-year old 2-burner Coleman camp stove. One end of this hose has the same connector you find at the top of the small 16oz Coleman propane cylinders -- so it attaches to the metal tube connector that normally goes between a 16oz cylinder and the stove. The other end of this hose attaches to larger propane tanks like the new one I just bought. I don't know what a 20# tank is, but mine is like 3 gallons in size -- the usual kind that people use for outdoor grills. I found out, however, that it does not fit the quick-release connection that I have on a different propane tank that came... Read more

Works like a charm, but CAUTION: If you plan on disconnecting the 20lb tank with the hose, you may receive some propane blow off. THIS IS OK! It is just the build up within the 5 foot hose.
HOW TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE: Towards (or at) the end of cooking, close the propane nossel to off while keeping the grill turned on high. This will burn off all the leftover propane in the line. I usually turn it off within 3 minutes left of cooking as to not waste it; sometimes it'll continue burning, slower and slower, for 5 minutes after.

This thing is nicely designed and built. Just to emphasize what others have already said - it connects the 20 pound propane tank to the regulator on the stove. *It does not connect directly to the stove - you still need a regulator!* The regulators on the newer stoves are on metal tubes with 45 degree angles, the regulators on the older stoves are on rubber tubes.
It makes so much more sense to use a refillable big propane tank than to dump those little empties in the land fill.
